Strategic Planning Council Notes
The Council worked on wording of strategic directions developed at the Feb 26 conference. The results will be turned over to the writing sub-group of the Governing Ideas Task Force.
1. Option A. Enhance the university’s reputation, visibility, and influence.
Option B. Enhance the university’s academic and research reputation.
Option C. Enhance the visibility of the university’s academic and research reputation.
Straw votes were taken on first choice wording and acceptable alternatives.

Eleven people at the meeting voted for option A as their first choice with 4 saying B wording was acceptable and 3 indicating C wording was acceptable.
Eight voted for option B as their first choice with 2 saying A was acceptable and 2 indicating C was acceptable.
Twelve voted for option C as their first choice with 3 saying A was acceptable and 3 indicating B was acceptable.
The group is very evenly divided between options A and C. The two options seem to be saying two very different things. We will leave to the writing sub-group and the Governing Ideas Task Force to give us a recommendation and their reasoning.
