Middle East Studies Night to
announce 2006 grant recipients

Jan. 26, 2006 -- The Middle East Studies Committee MESC at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will host a Middle East Studies Night on Monday, Feb. 6, in the Grand Hall of Fowler Center on campus.

The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the 2006 grant recipients.
The MESC was funded in 1994 from the proceeds of an endowment that was established by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). The ADHE was the original recipient of funds donated by King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, who valued promoting Middle Eastern cultural interests throughout the state of Arkansas.

A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a buffet of Middle Eastern cuisine at 7 p.m. From 7:45 – 8:45 p.m., cultural connections to the Middle East will be provided by student and faculty experiences. Admission is free.

The MESC at ASU is a non-profit organization that promotes interest and supports academic research activities primarily focused on Middle Eastern history and culture. The MESC establishes informational and educational relationships both here and abroad, and encourages mutual cultural exchange and understanding.
