Lecture-Concert Series presents political
satirist/comedian Paul Shanklin
Sept. 17, 2008 --
Paul Shanklin,
conservative political satirist, impressionist, and comedian, is the
featured performer in the second event of Arkansas State University’s
Lecture-Concert Series. He will present “Politics and Real Life” on
Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the ASU Student Union Auditorium, 101 N.
Caraway Road, Jonesboro.
This event, like all events in the Lecture-Concert Series, is free and
open to the public.
A Memphis native, Paul Shanklin first came to media attention after
doing his vocal impersonation of Bill Clinton for Memphis radio show
“The Big Kahuna,” hosted by Bill Young. Shanklin writes most of, and
voices the characters for, the songs/satirical bits used by conservative
radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Mike Fleming.
Shanklin has released 10 albums containing both parody songs and
political skits that utilize his skillful voice impressions. He has
performed more than 1,300 parody songs and skits incorporating more than
80 voice impressions, including Bill Clinton, Ross Perot, Al Gore,
George W. Bush, Joe Lieberman, John Edwards, Barak Obama, and many
others. His skits are heard worldwide on more than 650 radio stations
by audiences of more than 20 million.
