'Lifeline to Art' auction to benefit
art students' scholarship program
Feb. 8, 2008 --
third year, Drs. Calin and Mihaela Savu will host a benefit art auction
Saturday evening, March 1, in support of scholarships for Arkansas State
University art students. This year’s black tie-optional event, “Lifeline
to Art,” will be held at the Jonesboro Country Club, starting at 7 p.m.
The evening will include live and silent auctions, drinks and hors
d’oeuvres, and entertainment provided by the ASU Jazz Band, under the
direction of Dr. E. Ron Horton.
Featured artwork up for silent and live auction has been donated by ASU
students, faculty, and faculty emeriti, and by local artists. Clifford
Toney will serve as the event’s auctioneer.
Proceeds from the event will be used to provide scholarships for
outstanding students in the College of Fine Arts. The public is invited,
but an RSVP to ASU’s Department of Art, at (870) 972-3050, is requested
