ASU's annual Legislative Day names six legislators to be honored

Sept. 11, 2008 -- Six legislators will be honored Saturday when Arkansas State University conducts its annual Legislative Day activities on the Jonesboro campus.

Those to be honored are Senator Paul Gray Miller of Melbourne, state representative Tommy Baker of Osceola, state representative Joan Cash of Jonesboro, state representative Monty Davenport of Yellville, state representative Larry “Buddy” Lovell of Marked Tree, and state representative Gregg Reep of Warren.

The six will be recognized at a luncheon at Fowler Center and again at halftime of the ASU football game against Southern Mississippi that evening.

“Legislative Day represents a special time to express our thanks and appreciation to those with whom we have the opportunity to work and serve,” said Dr. Les Wyatt, president of the ASU System.  Dr. Wyatt commented the legislators to be honored are, “…friends of the university who have served their districts and our state with distinction.”

In addition, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, and several other legislators plan to attend.
