Four legislators to be honored
at annual Legislative Day activities

Oct. 6, 2006 -- Arkansas State University will conduct its annual Legislative Day activities Saturday on the Jonesboro campus, with four legislators to be honored.

Those to be honored are Rep. Benny Petrus of Stuttgart, Rep. Dustin McDaniel of Jonesboro, Rep. Robert Thompson of Paragould, and Rep. Ray Kidd of Jonesboro.

The four will be recognized at a picnic at the President’s Home, and at halftime of the ASU football game against University of Louisiana at Monroe.

In addition, prior to the halftime recognition ceremony the crowd will join in a moment of silence in honor of the late Sen. Jerry Bookout of Jonesboro, who died last February.

"Legislative Day represents a special time to express our thanks and appreciation to those with whom we have the opportunity to work and serve,” commented Dr. Les Wyatt, president of the ASU system.  The legislators to be honored are “ . . . friends of the university who have served their districts and our state with distinction.”
