Lecture-Concert Series presents Cuba expert Humberto Fontova on Jan. 21

Dec. 16, 2009 -- Cuba expert Humberto Fontova is the featured lecturer in the eighth event in Arkansas State University’s Lecture-Concert SeriHumberto Fontovaes. Fontova’s presentation, “Exposing the Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him,” is Thursday, Jan 21., at 7 p.m. in ASU’s Student Union Auditorium, Reng Student Services Center/Student Union, 101 N. Caraway Road, Jonesboro. The event is free and open to the public.

Humberto Fontova was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1954 and fled Cuba in 1961 with his family while his father was a political prisoner of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. The family fled to New Orleans, and Fontova has lived in the New Orleans area since 1961, earning a B.A. in political science from the University of New Orleans and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane University. His books include “The Helldiver’s Rodeo” (2001), an extreme scuba diving and spear fishing adventure; “The Hellpig Hunt” (2003), a hunting adventure set in the wetlands at the mouth of the Mississippi River; and “Fidel: Hollywood’s Favorite Tyrant” in 2005, a political expose about Castro. “Exposing the Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him” was released in 2007, and has now been published in English, Spanish, and Czech.

As Fontova has noted, Hollywood, Madison Avenue, and the mainstream media celebrate Ernesto “Che” Guevara as a combination of saint and a sex symbol - a selfless martyr with a love of humanity second only to Jesus Christ's. But their ideas about Che - Fidel Castro's henchman whose face adorns hipsters' T-shirts, posters, and ad campaigns - are based on a murderous communist regime's outright lies. As Humberto Fontova reveals in his myth-shattering book, Che Guevara was actually a bloodthirsty executioner, a military bumbler, a coward, and a hypocrite. This biographical account proves it's no exaggeration to state that Che - who was captured and killed nearly forty years ago - was the godfather of modern terrorism.

Publisher’s Weekly says the book is “fascinating, fun and free-spirited… Imagine “Deliverance” as written by Hunter S. Thompson.”

Fontova is a columnist for Newsmax, Human Events, and Frontpage Magazine, and he writes for many other outdoor magazines, including Scuba Diver, Salt Water Sportsman, Bowhunter, and Boating Magazine. He was a regular guest on Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect, and he was also featured on The O-Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, The Dennis Miller Show, Fox and Friends, and various shows for Telemundo.
Fontova continuously writes articles for many news websites such as www.humaneventsonline.com , www.lewrockwell.com, www.newsmax.com, and frontpagemag.com. Visit Fontova’s website, http://www.hfontova.com/, for details on Fontova and his writings.
