· When the Beltway is abuzz with exposés of prisoner torture, The Story talks with a man who tells how torture by police made his politics more radical, and with a government agent confronted with validating evidence obtained from uncooperative witnesses.
· When the morning news reports on the Supreme Court nominee's confirmation, The Story talks to 20-somethings, 60-somethings and teen parents about their changing views on the right to choose.
· When the Senate votes on education reform, The Story goes to school to hear what reform will mean to teachers and students, and sits in on a class with author and teacher Frank McCourt to hear how he inspires students.
Each program encourages listeners to share their
stories on the program's topics, to be featured later in the week. The
program is not a call-in, but will select from the best listener stories
to amplify listeners' understanding of significant events.
