Judd Hill Foundation launches new webpage featuring annual Field Day Jan.
31, 2005--A
new interactive web page has been launched featuring 10 years of cotton
growing research results from trials using the latest advanced
agricultural technology at the Judd Hill Plantation in Poinsett County,
Arkansas. The
new web page located at www.juddhillplantation.org
gives a detailed account of cotton growing research history on the
4,000-acre farm and provides specific results for yield, length, strength,
uniformity and turnout percentage. The results are noted for both
conventional and experimental varieties. Judd
Hill Foundation Trustee Mike Gibson said the new web page is in keeping
with the Annual Judd Hill Field Day Committee’s commitment to use the
latest technology for the benefit of cotton growers across the country. “We
continually look for ways to help producers work as efficiently and as
productively as possible. The Judd Hill Plantation is known for its
efforts to utilize technology and advances in agriculture to get the best
possible yields in the field. We also stand by a commitment to share that
information with cotton producers and the new web page continues to move
us forward in that regard,” Gibson said. The
web page additionally features an extensive history of the Judd Hill
Plantation and information about the role and purpose of the Judd Hill
Foundation. A list of Judd Hill Field Day sponsors is also displayed on
the site. “We’ve
always been proud of the fact that we are an industry-driven field day
where companies allow their products to stand side by side for comparison,
and that our sponsors provide the necessary financial support that allows
it all to happen,” Gibson said. “And because the Judd Hill Plantation
is a working farm, it’s one of the most unique opportunities available
to growers in helping them make important decisions that will improve
their yields.” The
Eleventh Annual Judd Hill Cotton Technology Field Day will be held
Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Judd Hill Plantation on Arkansas Highway 214
five miles south of Trumann, according to Matt Moon, chairman of the Judd
Hill Field Day Committee. Field
day activities will feature cotton demonstration plots showcasing the
latest biotechnology and many improved cotton varieties. On-site displays
of the latest farm equipment and emerging precision technology will also
be available. The Judd Hill Foundation was established upon the death of plantation owners Sam and Esther Chapin for the purpose of encouraging research and development of progressive farming techniques. The foundation provides support to causes benefiting education and rural health care. Each year, hundreds of farmers visit the plantation to view the development of the latest cotton varieties and to learn more about new techniques in irrigation, equipment, fertilization and weed and pest control.
