'Howl at the Moon' 5K run/walk scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25

Oct. 2, 2008 -- Arkansas State University’s fourth annual "Howl at the Moon" 5K run and walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6:15 p.m. The event is hosted by the Physical Therapy Student Association and HealthSouth and is the final event in the 2008 Ridge Rider Athletic Club’s running and walking series.

Registration is 5-6 p.m. Entry fee is $15 if postmarked by Oct. 15. Entry fee postmarked after Oct. 15 is $20. The run and walk begins and ends at the Student Union Center Court on the ASU campus. The marked and supervised course loops through the east campus, and includes rolling hills and ends with fairly flat terrain. Each participant receives a t-shirt and race goody bag.

Several events are being held in conjunction with the race, including a costume contest for all entrants, including the scariest, most creative and silliest. Kids entered in the Kids Fun Run for ages nine and under will have trick-or-treat stops along the route.

There is also group competition for Greek groups, student organizations, and corporate, business and local organizations for the three fastest groups overall. First place finishers in each category receive special "Howl at the Moon" trophies.

Light snacks and punch will be provided at the finish as well as live music before and after the race.
