April 29, 2005 -- Four students in the College of Fine Arts at Arkansas State University were recognized recently during Convocation of Scholars as the most outstanding graduates of their respective degree programs, according to Dr. Dan Reeves, dean of the college. In the Department of Art, the graduating senior award went to: Lile Stephens of Heber Springs, BFA, studio art. In the Department of Music, awards went to: Frank Hendrix of Osceola, bachelor of music, instrumental performance; and Russell Niemyer of Prescott, BA, music performance. In the Department of Theatre, the award recipient was: Ashley Nicole Swetnam of Monette, BFA, theatre (acting emphasis). Each award is based on academic achievement and contributions to the respective department. All students participated extensively in College of Fine Arts activities and won many honors while pursuing their degrees at ASU. # # # Localizing information for news media: Stephens's parents are Danny Stephens of Jacksonville, Ala., and Rhonda Boyer of Heber Springs.
