Financial Aid to help students "put 
your money where your heart is"

Jan. 21, 2005--The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro is teaming up to help students in the area put “money where their heart is.” That is, meaning where they have their heart for college.

The ASU financial aid staff members are offering their services to students in the area the weekend of Valentine’s Day at the new Jazzman’s Hardwired Café on the corner of Caraway Rd. and Johnson Ave. With Tuesday, Feb. 15, as the priority filing date for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), representatives will be on hand from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, and 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, and Tuesday, Feb. 15. No reservations are needed and assistance will be provided to parents and their families of prospective students whether attending ASU or not. Current ASU students are also invited.

Staff will assist students and their families with financial aid questions, applications and scholarship applications by providing the following services:

Personal assistance in completing a paper financial aid application (FAFSA)

Assistance in submitting the FAFSA data through the internet application process

Assistance in completing scholarship applications for ASU.

“We really care about helping students and we’re putting our heart into this. Many first-year students and their families find the financial aid process a little confusing at first. And, we want to go out of our way to make this easier for students in the area,” said Greg Thornburg, ASU’s dean of enrollment services.
