ASU employees recognized for
job performance and long service

April 22, 2005 -- Arkansas State University conducted its 12th annual service recognition and distinguished performance awards program Thursday for classified and non-classified personnel.

This program was initiated in 1994 to recognize outstanding job performance and long-time service by the university’s non-faculty employees, according to Dr. Les Wyatt, president of the university.

Eight employees received Distinguished Performance Awards in their respective employment categories. 
The employees, their departments, and their employment categories were:
-- Sherry Johnson, Research and Academic Affairs (professional/non-faculty)
-- Kathlyn Yarbrough, Transportation Management Program, College of Business (secretarial/clerical)
-- Michael (Bud) Gage, Motor Pool (skilled crafts)
-- Betty Wiseman, Residence Life (service maintenance)
-- Jennifer Jasinski, Finance and Administration (executive/managerial)
-- Roy Perry, Information and Technology Services (technical/paraprofessional)
-- Gwendolyn Wilson, Human Resources (part-time employee)
-- Vicki White, Student Union (customer service)

Each winner of the Distinguished Performance Award received a plaque and a savings bond.

Three employees, Dotty Foley, Procurement Services, Barbara Harrell, Library, and Philip Pickle, Information and Technology Services, were recognized for 40 years of service to ASU.

Two employees, Gary Harper in ITS and Don James in Finance and Administration were cited for 30 years service.

Forty-seven employees were recognized for 25 or more years of service.  The employees were: William Allen, Carol Barnhill, Gina Bowman, Carol Byrd, Phareta Calkin, Charles Carr, Ronald Carroll, Jimmie Carson, Ricky Clifft, Linda Collins, Gilbert Fowler, William Gann, Noble Graddy, David Gray, Sharon Griffin, Clint Halcom, Hester Hall, Freda Whitt Harris, Ruth Hawkins, Donna Kirksey, Kathy Lambie, Lola Langley, Ronald Looney, Charles Lutrell, Jenifer Rice Mason, James McCoy, Gary Mode, Renee O’Connor, Thomas O’Connor, Dewayne Powell, Jimmie Rushing, Samuel Shannon, Bobby Simpson, Carol Smith, Curtis Steele, Rick Stripling, Patricia Teddlie, Dorothy Thweatt, Lanny Tinker, Patricia Tinsley, Mary Tolley, Lois Travis, Karen Vardell, Randal Wallace, Billy Ward, David Ward, and Eugene Wittlake.

In addition, nine employees were recognized for 20 years of service.  The employees were:  Sandra Benesh, Linda Cole, Philip Jackson, Thomas Moore, Mary Smith, Jannie Trautwein, Mark Wade, Martha Wolfe, and Janice Woodruff.

16 employees who have retired or will retire during this fiscal year were also recognized.  They include: Gary Bolin and Judy Perkins, Environmental Health; Tony Bowman, James Brotemarkle, Don Clements, Jerrell Fielder, Dorothy Hampton, Patricia Lewis, Frank Owens, Bobby Joe Taylor, and Betty West, Facilities Management; Philip Pickle and Janie Mounce, Information and Technology Services; Dorothea Hensley, Admissions; Linda Sue Marshall, University Police; and Joyce Sandy, College of Agriculture.

An additional 20 employees were recognized for 10 years of service.
