Jan. 26, 2007 -- The Dean B. Ellis Library at Arkansas State University has announced an exhibit titled "Fallen Heroes from Arkansas." The exhibition includes photographs of 41 Arkansas men and women who have given their lives in the Afghanistan and Iraq theatres of war from 2003 to the present. The photographs depict the first fallen hero, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Michael Vann Johnson Jr., 25, of Little Rock to the most recent fallen soldier, Spc. Raymond N. Mitchell III, 21, of West Memphis. Several articles of war are on display including: an Iraqi flag discovered by Cadet Bruce Scott in a Baghdad palace, an Iraqi war medal, pieces of a castle fort wall and an Iraqi SKS Bayonet. "Fallen Heroes of Arkansas" is the first exhibit of the year in the library’s new multipurpose exhibit/programming area located between the elevator and the library dean’s office on the third floor. It will be on display until Feb. 10. The exhibit is a collaboration with the ASU Department of Military Science and Leadership, which loaned the articles of war, and Congressman Marion Berry’s office, which provided the photographs and captions. # # #
