Scholarship program will benefit recipients of El Dorado Promise Scholarship

Feb. 13, 2007--Seniors at El Dorado High School who wish to advance their education by attending a college or university in Arkansas with support from the Murphy Oil Co. will have several options from which to choose, including Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

ASU has adopted a scholarship plan for students who choose to attend ASU with their El Dorado Promise Scholarship.

Dr. Robert L. Potts, chancellor of ASU-Jonesboro, has written to the family of each El Dorado senior to invite them to consider opportunities at ASU.

ASU’s admissions counselors will attend the College Program at El Dorado High School on Thursday, Feb. 22, to explain the various opportunities available at ASU.  ASU has extended its scholarship application deadline to March 1 this year for El Dorado seniors.

Seniors with the El Dorado Promise Scholarship at 100 percent, a grade point of 3.25, and an ACT score of at least 24 will be eligible to receive a scholarship package at ASU that includes tuition, fees, and campus room and board.

ASU offers 11 different bachelor’s degree programs in 77 fields of study, with the five most popular being nursing, early childhood education, biological sciences, business administration and business management.
