College of Business Economic Outlook
Conference scheduled for Nov. 14

Oct. 23, 2006 - The Arkansas State University College of Business Economic Outlook Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Convocation Center auditorium. The annual event is sponsored by Regions Bank and the McAdams-Frierson Chair of Bank Management.

This year’s program includes Stephen Bone, managing director for Bear Stearns and Company, and Jeff Hankins, president and publisher of Arkansas Business Publishing Group in Little Rock.

Bone, an ASU alumnus, will present the 2007 national forecast. Prior to his position at Bear Stearns and Company, he was affiliated with Morgan Keegan, specializing in mortgage backed securities sales and derivatives transactions among institutional clients, and was a "Chairman’s Club" producer.

Hankins, one of Arkansas’ most well known business and political commentators, will provide his perspective on what to expect around the state in 2007, both in business and the political arena.

Returning to this year’s conference to present the state’s economic forecast is Dr. John Shelnutt, administrator for economic analysis and tax research with the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. Dr. Gary Latanich, professor of economics at ASU, will present the regional outlook for 2007. Dr. Latanich, a professor of macroeconomics and economic policy, is actively involved in consulting throughout the region, and makes regular contributions to local and regional publications.

Certified Public Accountants will receive three hours of credit for continuing professional education.

The conference is scheduled to begin at 8:30 and will conclude with the luncheon. Advanced registration is required. The fee is $50 per person, or $25 for ASU faculty, staff, and students. For more information call 972-3000.
