Barbara Doyle named to new position as Director of Assessment for campus

September 14, 2006 - Barbara Doyle of Jonesboro has been named Director of Assessment at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

She will be responsible for directing and measuring assessment activities, which will include workshops and services to enhance learning at ASU. More specifically, she will also be leading campus-wide efforts to foster and improve the “culture of learning” at ASU by collaborating with faculty, staff and students.

Additionally, she will be working with the ASU administration and faculty to provide opportunities that will measure the effectiveness of both instruction and other student activities. These efforts will provide feedback, which will be used to improve the quality of education and the experience students receive. As part of the position, Doyle will also coordinate general education assessment, as mandated nationally and by the state.

She is a 19-year employee of the university, having most recently been an instructor in First Year Programs. A former third-grade teacher and reading specialist, she holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in reading and a specialist degree in community college teaching, all from ASU.

Doyle is a recipient of the Outstanding Service Award by the Arkansas Association for Developmental Education, Who’s Who Among Professionals and has received the Friend of Diversity Award at ASU. She serves on numerous campus committees and is involved the community. She currently serves on the Jonesboro Ecumenical Center Board of Directors.
