Department of Music to present Brass Bash concert April 2

April 2, 2009 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the various ASU Brass Ensembles in a Brass Bash concert on Thursday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in ASU’s Riceland Hall, Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro. The concert will feature the ASU Brass Choir, the Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, and the Trombone Choir. Brass Bash is free of charge and open to the public. 

The concert will begin with the Brass Choir, which is conducted by Dr. Ed Owen. Its performance will include “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow” by ASU faculty member Dr. Tom O’Connor; “Toccata ‘Athalanta’” by Aurelio Bonelli; and “Another Cat: Kraken” by Chris Hazell.  The Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, which is also under the direction of Dr. Ed Owen, will follow with “Joy to the World (Ode to Joy)” by Maren Lidsle and “Pop Suite” by Arthur Frackenpohl. Next will be the Trombone Choir, which is under the direction of Dr. Neale Bartee.  The Trombone Choir will perform “Passacaglia in C Minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach and “Layla” by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon.
