April 18, 2007 -- The Arkansas State University Office of Admissions will host the Discover Diversity program Friday and Saturday, April 20 – 21, for high school juniors.ASU has hosted Discover Diversity programs for about 10 years. Over time, it has developed into a leadership conference. The spring program is for high school juniors, and the fall program serves high school seniors. Students selected to participate in the event are selected by their high school counselor. Participants must meet certain academic and extracurricular requirements. Students from West Tennessee, West Mississippi, and throughout Arkansas attend Discover Diversity. The program was designed to give underrepresented groups a closer look at ASU. Through the conference, students are exposed to college life, career planning workshops, early scholarship information and more. Students interact with faculty, staff, alumni and current ASU students during Discover Diversity. The schedule of events includes an Awards and Recognition Banquet Friday night with guest speaker Dr. Glen Jones, interim vice president for academic affairs and research; and a roundtable discussion involving ASU faculty, staff and students Saturday afternoon. All on-campus events will be held in the Reng Student Services Center. For more information about the program, please
