Delta National Small Prints Exhibition
juror to present lecture Monday, Aug. 29

Lloyd Menard, juror for the 2005 Delta National Small Prints Exhibition, will present a public lecture Monday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. at the theatre in Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr., at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

This year celebrates the 10th Delta National Small Prints Exhibition with an opening on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Bradbury Gallery in the Fowler Center. Both the lecture on Aug. 29 and the opening on Oct. 20 are free and open to the public.

Lloyd Menard (click to access high res version)Menard is the director and founder of Frogman’s Press & Gallery, (dubbed Frogman’s, a reference to his nickname Froggie) which is one of the most influential print programs and national workshops in the country. He is also a Professor Emeritus at the University of South Dakota. Menard, a legendary teacher, known to have made an enormous impact on contemporary printmaking, just retired last May. For more than three decades, he has tirelessly promoted contemporary and experimental printmaking and has inspired countless students. In 2005 he was honored with the College Art Association’s “Distinguished Teaching of Art” award.

In 2006 Menard will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his print workshop, which has grown to be one of the most highly regarded printmaking workshops in the country. He has a knack for gathering brilliant and generous teachers and artists to create an ideal environment for learning, in both his summer workshops and his enduring Visiting Artist in Print program.

Menard has also enjoyed an illustrious career as an artist and is represented by galleries across the country. His work, exhibition and curatorial record is impressive. With more than 50 solo shows, hundreds of juried and invitational exhibitions and work in more than 400 public and corporate collections, he is a major contributor to contemporary printmaking in America.
