Concert Orchestra to perform
April 21 in Fowler Center

April 13, 2005--The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Concert Orchestra Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The Concert Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Neale Bartee. Musical selections for this concert include: “Hansel and Gretel Prelude” by Engelbert Humperdinck; “Messiah Overture” by George Frideric Handel; “Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra” by Johann Nepomuk Hummel with Sherri Fincher, soloist; “John Jacob Niles Suite” by Weldon Hart, “Carmen Suite No. 2” by George Bizet, and “Movie Spectacular” arranged by Jay Bocook.

Personnel for the Concert Orchestra include: Concertmaster Rebecca Markowski of Jonesboro, Garrett Overcash of Brinkley, Bill Keisker and Marcia Burns, both of Jonesboro, Roby Johnson of East Prarie, Mo., Cecily Kennemore of Paragould, first violin; Ann Swaty, Ellen Burns, Jennifer Hutchinson, Sebastian Tarkington, Friedric Tarkington and Stephanie Duckworth, all of Jonesboro, William Overcash of Brinkley, second violin;

Additional members are: Paul Markowski of Jonesboro, Murray Therrel of Paragould, Chris Overcash of Brinkley, viola; Mary Kathryn Overcash of Brinkley, Elaine Bartee of Jonesboro, Sarah Wu of Baytown, Texas, cello; John Hays of Jonesboro, Chihiro Ogawa of Japan, bass; Ellen Philpot of Jonesboro, keyboard; Ashley Slayton of Paragould, A.J. Wetton Van Buren, Mo., Candice Hill of Jonesboro, flute/piccolo; Amy Dunivan of Jonesboro, oboe; Emily Quinn of Bradley Ill., oboe and English horn;

Other members are: Katie Bell of West Memphis, Nicole Nebeker of Trumann, clarinet; Sheena Gibson of Piggott, bass clarinet; Bryan Eckert and Carissa Porter, both of Jonesboro, bassoon; Greg Osborne of Newport, Jeremy Wortham of Paragould, Rachel Smith of Benton, Laura Thompson of Jonesboro, Lauren Howard of Sherwood, horn; Jonathan Monroe of Jonesboro, Ben Light of East Poinsett County, trumpet; Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Seth Weston and J.D. Hogue, both of Jonesboro, trombone; Jason Tacker of Wynne, tuba; Alex Anderson of Marion, Ben Runnels and Adam Watkins, both of Jonesboro, Cortney Parker of West Memphis, Iggy Ferguson of Newark, Jason Holder of Newport.
