Concert Band and Symphonic Winds
to present concert on April 23

April 12, 2006 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Concert Band and Symphonic Winds in concert on Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The ASU Concert Band is conducted by Sherri Fincher. Musical selections for the concert will include “Olympic Fanfare and Theme” by John Williams/Jim Curnow, “Prayer of St. Gregory” by Alan Hovhaness with trumpet soloist Peter Davis, “Chanteys” by Robert Sheldon, and “Havendance” by David R. Holsinger.

Under the direction of Dr. Ken Carroll, the ASU Symphonic Winds will perform musical selections that include “Huldingungsmarsch” by Richard Wagner/Schaefer, “Divertimento for Winds and Percussion” by Roger Cichy, “Almighty King” by Giardini/Larry Norred, and “The Wizard of Oz” by James Barnes.

Members of the Concert Band include Ashley Armour and Shirley Smith, both of West Memphis, Alex Becerra of El Dorado, Kate Puckett of Wilson, LaShay McDuffey, Laura Thompson, Marissa Moore, Curtis Farley, Camaron Walton, Chris Knight, and Ted Akin, all of Jonesboro, Justin Crabb, Terana Griffin, Chelsea Bills, and Matt Jones, all of Paragould, Sheena Gibson of Piggott, Regina Alexander of Osceola, Nicole Nebeker of Trumann, Andrea Caldwell of Brookland, Ashely Flory, Doug Turner, and Cory Vaughn, all of Highland, Michael Newsom of Memphis, Tenn.

Other members are Barry Goode and Amanda Johannes, both of Sherwood, Kevin Ledford of Bald Knob, Ben Light of West Ridge, Sara DeClerk of Pocahontas, Brad Bowman, Kevin Baugh, and Leroy Buttone, all of Gosnell, Josh Etzkorn and Derek Seitz, both of White Hall, Rachel Smith of Benton, Kimberly Brown of Forrest City, Tyrone Cobb of Dumas, Chance Caleb of Jacksonville, John Buck of North Little Rock, Jeremy Ramsey and Derrick Palmer, both of Brinkley.

Wetton of Van Buren, Mo, flutes; Shay Beard of Cherokee Village, Kristina Brewer of Pocahontas, Morganne Brown of Paragould, Mylie Brown of Walnut Ridge, Kristi Freeman of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Brittney Hampton of North Little Rock, Nicole Nebeker of Trumann, Melanie Partin of Conway, Jessica Toddy of Newport, Amy Van Slyke of Hardy, clarinets; Misti Cook of Russellville, Terana Griffin of Paragould, bass clarinets; Alyssa Johnson of Bryant, bassoon; Allen Adcock of Jonesboro, Amanda Johannes of Sherwood, Jessica Lynch of Lonoke, Patrick Manes of Bryant, Tonia Spurlock of Highland, alto saxophones; Daniel Rickman of Jonesboro, tenor saxophone.
