Community
education classes offered by Center for Regional Programs
May 1, 2009 --
Summer@State has never been so much fun.
The
Center for Regional Programs, directed by Dean Verlene Ringgenberg,
is now offering new activities for the community--a selection of special
interest classes and workshops specifically designed for a variety of
ages. With hand-picked courses like Acrylic Painting, Digital
Photography and Chess for Beginners, Computing for Seniors, Growing an
Herb or Vegetable Garden, Acting for the Community Theater, Spanish for
Medical Professionals, Green Living, and Organic Skin Care, it’s easy to
learn something new, start a hobby or just have some fun. The
Summer Schedule (http://www2.astate.edu/a/regional-programs/CRP_non-credit-programs/crp_community-education-classes.dot)
is posted and has a wide range of development and fun activities for
kids and adults. Youth can also enjoy summer classes like Computerama!,
Mixed Media Art and Herbology. Special courses will be added
continuously or can be requested and offered on demand, based upon
student participation, availability of instructors and facilities. To

The new Community Education program is designed to be responsive to the
population’s interests to create short, non-credit courses that
individuals in Jonesboro and surrounding areas would like to see
offered. Course additions can be as creative and expressive to learning
as the community can imagine, and in an unusual way, course additions
can reveal the character of the community by the areas of interest it
chooses.
Have an idea for a class or think you know of a potential instructor?
If so, you are encouraged to submit an e-mail to
Evone Roberts, coordinator of
community education, (evone@astate.edu) with your idea, or request a
course proposal to develop an idea for a class. Schedules
are available from the Center for Regional Programs, Smith Hall, Suite
410, or
register online. For more information or to register and pay with a
credit card by phone, call (870) 972- 3052.
