College of Business announces Spring Swing golf
tournament April 11
April 1, 2008 --
The
College of Business Alumni Chapter at Arkansas State University in
Jonesboro has set the date for its annual Spring Swing golf tournament.
The event, co-sponsored by ASU's Delta Center for Economic Development,
will be held at Sage Meadows Golf Course in Jonesboro on Friday, April
11. Outback Steakhouse will provide lunch, which will be served at 11
a.m., and the shotgun start for the scramble tournament will begin at
12:15 p.m.
The tournament invites teams of four to compete for gift certificates
for first and second places. Prizes will also be awarded for
the lowest team
score, closest to the pin, and the longest drive for men and for women.
There will be a $15,000 prize for hitting a hole-in-one on hole number
seven.
Individuals wishing to participate but who do not have a foursome will
be placed with a group.
Sage Meadows is a Tommy Bolt Signature golf course. The golf club
requires that soft spikes be used on the course.
The tournament provides an opportunity for participants to help support
the College of Business Foundation, which provides scholarships for
business students and creates opportunities for both students and local
businesses.
Area businesses are invited to become sponsors or to donate prizes.
Lindsay Burnett of the ASU Development office says, "The College of
Business helps us to remain at the forefront of business education,
which benefits our entire region. Through events like this, we can help
provide additional resources for those who need them."
According to Susan Naylor, president of the College of Business Alumni
Chapter and a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley in Jonesboro, "This is
a wonderful opportunity not only to have a great time playing golf on a
beautiful spring day, but also for alumni like me who are out in the
business world to give back to the university and to help deserving
students."
