ASU's logistics program receives blanket waiver from AST&L

Jan. 16, 2008 -
- Arkansas State University’s College of Business logistics program is joining the ranks of only 25 other schools in the United States to receive a blanket waiver for transportation and logistics certification from the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (AST&L). This waiver will benefit ASU students by allowing those students pursuing marketing degrees with emphases in logistics to graduate with automatic AST&L certification.

AST&L’s blanket waiver program allows the transportation, logistics, and supply chain programs within institutions of higher learning to be examined and approved as meeting the standards of AST&L’s professional certification program. AST&L was founded in 1946 by industry leaders with the goal of promoting continuing education in the field of logistics. Students who are certified by AST&L display substantial knowledge of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. Recent graduates of those institutions’ programs can receive the certification in transportation and logistics (CTL) without further examinations, which otherwise are necessary in order to fulfill AST&L requirements. The waiver will go into effect immediately.

For more information on how to pursue this certification, contact Dr. John E. Mello, director of the Transportation Management Program in the College of Business at Arkansas State University, at (870) 972-3515 or jmello@astate.edu.
