College of Business
to host Teaching Conference
Oct. 22, 2007 -- The College of Business at Arkansas State
University will host the annual Teaching Conference on Thursday, Nov. 1.
The theme is “Improving Teaching and Learning: Advances in Higher
Education” for the afternoon seminar which is co-sponsored by the
Thompson Southwestern Publishing Co.
The day’s events will begin with registration at 12:30 p.m. on the third
floor of the Student Union, followed by the welcome from Dr. Len Frey,
dean of the College of Business. The opening presentation is titled
“Measuring Student Perceptions of Effective Teaching” and will be
presented by Dr. Sarath A. Nonis and Dr. John Seydel, who serve as
faculty at ASU.
After the full-group presentation a number of break-out presentations
are scheduled. These presentations include teaching online, teaching
abroad, segmented learning practices and implementing podcasting. The
closing session will be a panel discussion on how ASU students compare
to students from other universities.
The conference will be held in the Mockingbird and Pine Tree Rooms on
the third floor of the Student Union. Registration is required to attend
