Cinco de Mayo Hispanic Celebration in May will be held downtown May 3

April 29, 2008 -- Cinco de Mayo, the Hispanic Celebration in May, presents its annual arts and music festival, which will take place on Saturday, May 3, at St. Bernards Auditorium in Jonesboro. The festival runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and a dance will be held from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. People from Jonesboro and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to enjoy and to share the Hispanic culture.
The Hispanic Celebration in May is a celebration of Hispanic heritage, combining live music, salsa dancing demonstrations and lessons, food, arts and crafts, activities for children, contests, and old-fashioned family fun.
Last year’s event attracted more than 1,500 people. More are expected to attend this year’s expanded event. The festival boasts authentic food and a variety of activities, musical performances, and exhibitors. The proceeds will be equally distributed to benefit Hispanic Community Services, Inc. and an endowed scholarship at Arkansas State University.
For more information about the festival and/or Hispanic Community Services, Inc., or to schedule an interview or on-site report, please contact Gina Gomez, executive director, Hispanic Co
