With completion of a position announcement and placement of advertising, the search process for a new chancellor at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro is now well underway, announced Dr. Glen Jones, chair of the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee. The position announcement and institutional profile have been posted to the web site of the search consulting firm that is assisting with identifying candidates, Jones said. The announcement and other information regarding the search also may be reviewed at http://www.astate.edu/chancellorsearch. Anyone interested in the search process is encouraged to visit the site to learn more about the chancellor’s position and the process for applying.Online advertisements are now appearing in several widely-circulated academic publications including The Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse, Hispanic Outlook, Inside Higher Education (Inside HigherEd.com), Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, and Women in Higher Education. The ASU Board of Trustees voted in December to create a new position of chancellor to serve as chief executive of the Jonesboro campus. This will allow Dr. Les Wyatt to devote his efforts exclusively to the ASU system with oversight of the various ASU campuses. The university has employed Academic Search Consultation Service of Washington, D.C., to assist with the university’s efforts. The goal is to have campus interviews of finalists in June with the Board selecting the new chancellor by July 1. # # # |
