Chancellor Search Advisory
Committee members named

Feb. 13, 2006 -- Members of the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee were announced today at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.  Also, a Town Hall session in Little Rock has been added to the schedule.

Academic representatives are: Dr. Chuck Carr, department chair, English and Philosophy; Dr. Jerry Farris, associate dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics; Dr. Dick Freer, vice president of the Faculty Senate and associate professor of social work; Dr. Ruth Hawkins, director of Delta Heritage Initiatives; Dr. Veda McClain, department chair, Teacher Education; Dr. Jeff Pittman, associate professor of accounting and law; Dr. Andy Sustich, dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Tina Gray Teague, professor of entomology and plant science; and Nonie Wiggins, assistant professor of nursing and faculty athletics committee representative.

Student representatives are Tiffany Frazier, vice president of the SGA, and Jason Smith, a master's degree program student. Staff representatives are Tammy Fowler, interim director of admissions, Victor Hill, president of Staff Senate and counselor in Financial Aid, and Dr. J. W. Mason, associate vice chancellor for finance and administration.

Community representatives are Rosalie Barber, an emeritus instructor of physical education; Marilyn Hummelstein, chair of the ASU Foundation, Inc., Ben Owens, president and CEO of St. Bernards Healthcare; and Harold Perrin, a Jonesboro businessman, a member of the City Council, and a former member of the ASU Board of Trustees member.

The committee is chaired by Dr. Glen Jones, assistant to the president for diversity initiatives.

The process for selecting a chancellor for the Jonesboro campus includes a series of Town Hall Forums where students, faculty, staff and other interested individuals may provide input into the selection process.  Several Town Hall Forums are scheduled for Wednesday through Friday of this week.  In addition to those previously announced, another session has been added, Friday at 2 p.m. in Little Rock at the Hilton Little Rock Metro Center, 925 S. University Ave.
