• Develop new undergraduate courses with substantive diversity content • Develop strategies to interface the curriculum with co-curricular learning experiences • Contribute to the emerging field of research in diversity and inclusiveness
Of special interest are proposals that combine an inclusive curriculum with: • Inclusive pedagogy • Learning outcomes for general education • Fulfilling a requirement in the major • Infusing diversity into math and science courses • Developing diversity-centered online courses Research projects focusing on student engagement, student learning, teaching diversity, or globalization are also of special interest.
Campus members can apply for support by submitting a written proposal that includes the following: 1. A cover page with your contact information. 2. A letter of support from your department chair and dean reflecting a commitment to offer the course and to grant reassigned time should the proposal be accepted. 3. The narrative for the proposal, not exceeding two double-spaced pages, that includes the following: • The level of the course and its expected enrollment • Identification of the major or general education requirement • A short description of the new course, emphasizing its diversity content and describing its co-curricular component • A detailed description and outline of the proposed research project
Expected Outcomes: • Production of a new syllabus for the course as proposed • Development course components integrating co-curricular learning experiences • Participation in a symposium in the next academic year, discussing the diversity content of the new course • Service as a mentor/advisor for other faculty for infusing diversity into the curriculum • Service as a reviewer of future proposals for infusing diversity into the curriculum • Creation of online courses that will expose a broader audience to principles of diversity • Submission of a completed scholarly project for inclusion in a refereed journal • Development and presentation of
