Deadline approaching for 2010 College of Business Plan competition

October 19, 2010 -- Submission of entry forms and five copies of the five-page business plans for the Arkansas State University Fall 2010 College of Business Plan competition is Friday, Oct. 22. All forms are due by 5 p.m. in the Management and Marketing Office, Room 403, in the College of Business, 2007 Aggie Road.

The competition is hosted by ASU’s College of Business, and is open to all students, both undergraduate and graduate. Entrants do not have to be a business major to enter.

The next timeline is Oct. 25-Nov. 3 when judging of all written plans will take place. Undergraduate and graduate finalists will be notified at 4 p.m. by e-mail on Nov. 4. On Friday, Nov. 12, revised business plans up to 10 pages must be submitted by the finalists through e-mail by 5 p.m.

Finalists will make oral presentations of their plans from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Nov. 16, and winners will be announced and awards presented at 1 p.m. that same day.

The entry form, rules of the competition, a “How-to-Guide for Writing The ASU Business Plan,” a mock business plan and the set of written instructions are located at the College of Business website, http://www2.astate.edu/a/business/departments/management-marketing/. The first-place winner will receive $600, $300 will be awarded to second-place, and third-place will receive $150.
