Awareness Week Activities
The week of
October 17th thru October 21st is the 2nd
Annual Cancer Awareness Week sponsored by the university group Colleges Against
Cancer. We have some very exciting
events happening this year.
Mon Oct 17th;
Tues Oct 18th and Thurs Oct 20th
11 am to 1 pm, Student Union
Sales of the Breast and Testicular
Cancer Awareness T- shirts for $10 each
Pink and Yellow Carnations to remind
loved ones to do their Breast and Testicular self exams every month (Don’t know
how???? Come to our guest speakers on Tuesday.) They will be available for $1.
HOPE bracelets in purple for $2.
Chance to win a Breast Cancer
Awareness Ribbon blanket or bracelet. Chances are 50˘ each or 3 for $1.
Registration to be part of Colleges
Against Cancer, membership $10/year.
All funds raised throughout the year
go to support the Relay For Life in the Spring (April 14th-15th,
2006)
Tues Oct 18th
7:00 – 8:00 pm,
Laboratory Sciences East Lecture Hall 219
Cancer Awareness Speakers. We will have 2 speakers from St Bernard’s on
campus that night to talk to us about cancer, preventative measures and how to
do self exams. We will start out in a
group and then split off into gender specific groups into 2 rooms.
Tues Oct 18th
8:30 -9:30 pm
Fountain by the Student Union
Luminary ceremony and Award
Ceremony. Last year’s Relay For Life
ceremonies needed to be cancelled due to 40 mph winds (hard to light candles in
that situation). We will do the ceremony
in remembrance and in honor of loved ones and their battle with cancer. We will have additional bags available if you
would like to purchase one.
