Jan. 12, 2007 -- Mike Gibson of Osceola was elected chair of the Board of Trustees of Arkansas State University during the board's meeting Wednesday at the ASU System Office in Little Rock.

Gibson, an attorney, is beginning his fourth year of service as a board member at ASU.

Mike Medlock of Jonesboro was elected vice chair and Col. Dallas Wood (Ret.) of Paragould was elected board secretary.

Other members of the board are Florine Tousant Milligan of Forrest City and Jim Pickens of Little Rock.

Members of the ASU Board of Trustees are appointed by the governor and serve staggered five-year terms. The board has oversight responsibilities for the ASU System of campuses at Jonesboro, Beebe, Mountain Home, Newport, Heber Springs, Searcy and Marked Tree.
