Basic disaster life support training class

The Department of Nursing at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro is sponsoring a two-day basic disaster life support (BDLS) training class from noon until 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 24 and 25.

The BLDL class is a review of all hazards including natural and accidental man-made events. These events include: traumatic and explosive, nuclear and radiological, biological, and chemical. Students will also be informed about Move Access Assort and Send (M.A.S.S.), Immediate Delayed Minimal and Expectant (Id-Me), as well as triage.

Students will receive 7.5 hours of continuing medical education and health-care professionals will receive 7.5 hours of continuing education from Department of Nursing, which is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Arkansas Nurses Association (ANA). The ANA is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Community and civic leaders, educators, health professionals, law enforcement, students or anyone interested in basic disaster life support are highly recommended to take the BDLS class. The cost is $75, which includes the book. ASU students will receive a discounted rate of $65 (with a valid student ID).
