ASU Theatre announces 2008 Summer Children's
Theatre season
May 14, 2008 --
The Arkansas State
University Theatre has released the schedule for the 2008 ASU Summer
Children’s Theatre season. All performances will be held at Fowler
Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro, on the ASU campus.
The 13th season of children’s theatre at ASU will open with
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” adapted by Judith Baker
Kase from a tale by the Brothers Grimm. Mirror, Mirror on the
wall! Who’s the fairest of them all? Is it Snow White? Is it the evil
Queen? Maybe it’s one of the seven dwarfs. This play provides fun for
the whole family as the audience learns the identity of the “fairest of
them all.”
Performance dates for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” are Wednesday,
June 18, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Thursday, June 19, at 10 a.m. and 2
p.m.; and Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. This production of
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is sponsored by the ASU
Theatre Guild.
The second production of the 2008 season will be “Jack and the Bean
Stalk,” dramatized by William Glennon. Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum—this
classic tale comes to life with rhymes, song, dance, magic beans, and
lots of audience participation. The audience of all ages can join Jack,
the Giant, and the Golden Harp for lots of fun. This wonderful version
of the classic story is reflective of Bill Glennon’s gifts of
expression, demonstrating his wit, sense of adventure, and warmth. A
Fairy Godfather and Junior, his assistant (still in training to become a
full-fledged fairy godfather), help Jack in his adventures in the
kingdom of the Giant.
Performance dates for "Jack and the Bean Stalk" are Wednesday, July 23,
at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and
Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. This production of “Jack and
the Bean Stalk” is sponsored by the Golden Grotto and the ASU Theatre
Guild.
