ASU Theatre announces cast for February production of 'Proof'

Jan. 17, 2008 -
- The Arkansas State University Theatre is proud to announce the cast of the February production of “Proof” by David Auburn. “Proof” combines elements of mystery and surprise with old-fashioned storytelling to provide a compelling evening of theatre. “Proof” is the winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play.

The ASU Theatre’s production of “Proof” is under the stage direction of Molly Simpson, professor of theatre. Scenic design is by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, and lighting design is under the direction of Bob Simpson, professor of theatre and chair of the Department of Theatre. Laura Perkins, instructor of theatre, will serve as costume designer. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Amy Penny, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro.

The cast includes Whitney Elliott, a senior theatre major from Magnolia, as Catherine; Bob Simpson, professor of theatre and department chair, as Robert; Jared Weston, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Hal; and Meredith Hendrix, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro, as Claire.

“Proof” will be performed at at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center Friday-Saturday, Feb. 15-16, and Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 19-20. A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the Feb. 15 opening night performance. Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1. Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu. Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Tickets are $10 ($8 in advance). Reservations in advance are highly recommended.
