ASU Theatre announces cast for 'Little Shop of Horrors,' Nov. 13-14, Nov. 16-18

October 27, 2009 -- Man-eating plant invades ASU Theatre! The ASU Theatre announces the cast for the November production of “Little Shop of Horrors” by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken“Little Shop of Horrors” will be performed Friday-Saturday, Nov. 13-14 and Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the Nov. 13 opening night performance. All performances will take place in Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro.

A down-and-out Skid Row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, rhythm-and-blues-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

The ASU Theatre’s production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ is under the stage direction of Molly Simpson, professor of Theatre.
Marc Sexton will serve as music director. Stacy Alley, associate professor of Theatre, will be serving as choreographer. Scenic and lighting design will be by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of Theatre, and Brent Foland, assistant professor of Theatre, will serve as costume designer. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Meredith Hendrix, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro.

The cast includes Matt Morgan, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as Seymour; Aleigha Morton, a junior theatre major from Searcy, as Audrey; James Kaut, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Mushnik; Michael Trevino, a sophomore theatre major from Long Beach, Calif., as Orin, Mr. Bernstein, Skip Snip, Mrs. Luce, Customer, Wino #2, and Patrick Martin; Cecily Sullivan, a sophomore theatre major from Cabot as Crystal; Bridget Bolton, a freshman theatre major from Chicago, Ill., as Chiffon; Kayla Duvall, a sophomore theatre major from Hot Springs, as Ronnette;  Ben Griffin, a sophomore theatre major from Benton, as Audrey II; and Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of Theatre, as the voice of Audrey II.

All seating is reserved, and tickets for reserved seating may be purchased in advance at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center, or by calling 972-ASU1. Tickets are also available online at http://www2.astate.edu/tickets/ --click the ticket icon or the tickets tab in the menu bar.  Reserved seating tickets, if available, may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Ticket prices for ASU Theatre’s 2009-10 season performances are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.

Children younger than six years old are not admitted to the ASU Theatre. Please arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission. This play contains adult language and subject matter.
