ASU Theatre announces cast of November production, 'Beautiful Bodies'

Oct. 18, 2007 -
- The ASU Theatre is proud to announce the cast of the November production of “Beautiful Bodies” by Laura Shaine Cunningham. “Beautiful Bodies” takes place in Manhattan, as six best friends rush to attend a celebration. Tonight's the night of nights, as the girls gather to rejoice in a new lover, leave an unfaithful husband, or decide to have a baby alone. These "six in the city" professional women fight for their female choices. Sparks and zingers fly as love lives, secrets, and friendships go up in candle flames.

The ASU Theatre’s production of “Beautiful Bodies” is under the stage direction of Molly Simpson, professor of theatre. Scenic and lighting design will be under the direction of Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre. Kelly Schaefer, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume designer. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Megan Gates, a junior theatre major from Drasco.

The cast includes Alexandra Rodery, a freshman theatre major from Piggott, as Jessie; Amanda LaRue, a junior theatre major from Heber Springs, as Nina; Elizabeth Lawson, a senior theatre major from Marion, as Lisbeth; Whitney Elliott, a senior theatre major from Magnolia, as Martha; Stacy Olm, a graduate student of theatre from North Little Rock, as Sue Carol; and Tonya Rogers, a theatre graduate student from Springdale, as Claire.

“Beautiful Bodies” will be performed at Fowler Center Friday-Saturday, Nov. 9-10, Tuesday-Wednesday, and Nov. 13-14 at 7:30 p.m.  A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the Friday, Nov. 9 opening night performance.

Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1. Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu.  Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Ticket prices are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.

Children younger than six years old are not admitted to the ASU Theatre. Please arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission. This play contains adult content and language.
