ASU-TV to produce and air
programs featuring United Way agencies
Dec.
7, 2009 --
Arkansas State University’s student-run ASU-TV is teaming with the
United Way of Northeast Arkansas to produce a half-hour interview
program to air throughout December and January on Suddenlink Cable
Channel 18. The program, entitled “ASUnited Spotlights,” will air
Tuesdays at 9 a.m., Thursdays at 2 p.m., Saturdays at 9 p.m. and Sundays
at 5 p.m. Two United Way agencies are featured in each episode and more
episodes are scheduled to be produced early in 2010. The first episode
will run Tuesday, Dec. 8
“ASU-TV is excited about the opportunity to partner with an organization
that impacts so many individuals throughout the region,” said Collin
Pillow, ASU-TV faculty adviser. “This type of program not only provides
valuable visibility for non-profit agencies, but also continues the
College of Communications’ endeavors to educate our students through
real-world experiences.”
Aaron Reddick, a senior radio-television major from Paragould, will
serve as the host of the program, with Anna Callaway, a senior
radio-television major from Warren, will be the director. The production
team is made up of ASU radio-television students who will change for
each program.
“United Way of Northeast Arkansas is pleased to have been selected to
participate in the Arkansas State University's Radio/TV program
‘ASUnited Spotlights,’” said Selena Barber, 2009 board president for
United Way of Northeast Arkansas. “The public awareness created by
‘ASUnited Spotlights’ will be immeasurable for the programs and agencies
that participated.
“Our hope is for a continued partnership that will both further United
Way's mission of community impact while providing an effective training
ground for Arkansas State University students.”
