Arkansas State University—Heber Springs campus dedication
set for Friday, Dec. 7
Nov. 16, 2007 - Arkansas State University – Beebe has
announced the campus dedication Arkansas State University – Heber
Springs on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at noon. The new campus, located at 101
River
Crest Dr. in Heber Springs, will serve as a center of ASU-Beebe.
In the late 1990s, local community leaders in Heber Springs expressed
interest in gaining a college campus. After a time of analysis and
study, ASU-Heber Springs, the first technical campus of ASU-Beebe, was
established in 1999.
The ASU-Heber Springs center attracts of both traditional and
nontraditional students, primarily from Cleburne County. Full-time and
adjunct faculties provide instruction to more than 600 students for core
curriculum classes as well as business-oriented courses such as
accounting and business statistics. Concurrent enrollment is also
available, allowing high school students to enroll in university
courses.
Additionally, ASU-Heber Springs offers continuing education courses,
from photography to financial investment and specialized training for
industry. The new permanent campus is located at the base of Sugarloaf
Mountain.
