Alumni Association offers scholarships; deadline for all is Feb. 15

Jan. 7, 2005--Scholarship opportunities are currently available through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The deadline to apply for all ASU scholarships is Tuesday, Feb. 15.   

Three special scholarships are offered by the ASU Alumni Association: The Debbye Turner Scholarship offers a tuition scholarship to an entering freshman who is the son or daughter of an ASU alumnus and who exemplifies outstanding qualities of scholarship and leadership. Candidates must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be well-rounded, involved in school and community activities and demonstrate civic-mindedness. The 2004 Debbye Turner Scholarship recipient was Callie Blevins, a freshman pre-veterinary student from Jonesboro.

The Dean Robert Moore Leadership Scholarship, also sponsored by the ASU Alumni Association, is available for juniors and seniors who are selected on the basis of scholarship and extraordinary leadership. The 2004 recipient of the Dean Robert Moore Leadership Scholarship was Courtney Rowe of Stamps, a senior public relations major and vice-president of the ASU Student Government Association.

The ASU Alumni Association License Plate Scholarship Endowment is awarded to a recipient who is a single parent, non-traditional, in-state student with 30 credit hours and a minimum 2.00 grade point average. Shelley Sailor of Jonesboro was the 2004 License Plate Scholarship recipient.

Deadline to apply for the 2005 Debbye Turner Scholarship, Dean Robert Moore Leadership Scholarship, License Plate Scholarship and all scholarships at ASU is Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Students apply for privately-funded scholarships through one application, available only through the ASU Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
