Concert Orchestra set for Nov. 2

The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the Concert Orchestra on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center Riceland Hall. 

Under the direction of Neale Bartee, musical selections included in the performance are “Nabucco Overtureby Giuseppe Verde, “Piano Concerto No. 21 in C minor” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “English Folk Songs Suiteby Ralph Vaughn Williams, orchestrated by Gordon Jacob, “American Salute” by Morton Gould, “Postlude in F by Charles Ives, edited by Kenneth Singleton; and “Victory at Sea Symphonic Scenarioby Richard Rodgers.

Members of the orchestra include: Rebecca Markowski of Jonesboro, concertmaster; Garrett Overcash of Brinkley, Bill Keisker of Jonesboro, Roby Johnson of East Prairie, Mo., Sharon Davidson of Jonesboro, and Cecily Kennemore of Paragould, First Violin; Ann Swaty of Jonesboro, Ellen Burns and Jennifer Hutchinson, both of Jonesboro; William Overcash of Brinkley, Stephanie Duckworth, Friedric Tarkington, and Sebastian Tarkington, all of Jonesboro; second violin; Paul Markowski of Jonesboro, Murray Therrell of Paragould, Marcia Burns of Jonesboro, and Chris Overcash of Wynne, viola, Megan Friant of Conway, Elaine Bartee of Jonesboro, Sarah Wu of Korea, and Mary Kathryn Overcash of Brinkley, cello.

Other members include: John Hays of Jonesboro and Chihiro Ogawa of Japan, bass; Ellen Philpot of Jonesboro, keyboard; Ashley Slayton of Paragould and A.J. Wetton of Poplar Bluff, Mo., flute/piccolo; Caroline Sampson of Huntsville, Ala., and Emily Quinn of Bradley, Ill., oboe; Caroline Sampson of Huntsville, Ala., English horn; Jessica Crociata of Tampa, Fla., and Mylie Brown of Walnut Ridge, clarinet; Sheena Gibson of Piggott, bass clarinet. 

Other members include:  Carissa Porter and Dale Clark, both of Jonesboro, bassoon; Jeremy Wortham of Paragould, Rachel Smith of Benton, Laura Thompson of Jonesboro, and Natalie Woods of Crossett, horn; Jonathan Monroe of Jonesboro, Katricia Deckard of Cherokee Village, and Josh Gardner of Paragould, trumpet;  Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Seth Weston of Jonesboro, and Jason Payne of Poplar Bluff, Mo., trombone; Jason Tacker of Wynne, tuba; Ben Runnels of Jonesboro, Chris Knight of Sherwood, Adam Watkins of Jonesboro, and Iggy Ferguson of Newark, timpani/percussion.

The Omicron Omega Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will assist in stage management of this concert.
