Jazzman's Cafe features student art exhibit

Jazzman’s Hardwired Café recently opened on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro featuring coffees, drinks, sandwiches and salads, along with free Internet and wireless access and an art exhibit that showcases the work of ASU students.

The first exhibit titled “Glimpse” is a look at some of the different mediums and types of work that are currently being created in the Art Department. “Glimpse” features a variety of work that ranges from realistic graphic design illustration to conceptual sculpture, self-portraiture and traditional oil paintings.

Students who have artwork in the exhibition are: Amanda Burrow of Batesville, senior in graphic design; Terri Morgan of Wynne, senior in sculpture; Teddy Wiggington of Paragould, graduate student; Nic Bussell of Brinkley, senior in studio art; and Raven Lennon of Trumann, recent ASU graduate. Sarah Miller of Pocahontas, curatorial assistant for the café and ASU graduate student, organized the exhibition.

“Glimpse” will be on exhibit through Nov. 20, with closing reception planned from 6–8 p.m. on Nov. 18 to celebrate the artists’ work.

Jazzman’s Café is located in the ASU North Plaza at the corner of Johnson and Caraway streets. The café is open from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until midnight on Saturdays and 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Sundays.

For additional information, please contact Paula Mitchell with Information and Technology Services at 870-972-3033 or Sarah Miller at 870-931-2377.
