Tom Williams is new editor for Arkansas Review Tom Williams, assistant professor of English and creative writing at Arkansas State University, has been named the new General Editor of “Arkansas Review: A Journal of Delta Studies.” Published three times a year by the Department of English and Philosophy at ASU, “Arkansas Review” focuses on the seven-state Mississippi River Delta in academic articles representing a range of humanities and social science disciplines, fiction, poetry, interviews, visual art, and reviews. Williams joined the ASU faculty in 2000. A graduate of Ashland College, he holds an M.A. from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Houston. He has published fiction in a number of periodicals and has previously served as Creative Materials Editor for “Arkansas Review.” Founded as “Kansas Quarterly” in the late 1960s at Kansas State University, “Arkansas Review” moved to ASU in 1996, when fiction-writer Norman Lavers assumed editorship. Under his direction, the periodical published essays, short stories, and fiction from around the world. In 1998 it assumed its current identity as an interdisciplinary regional publication under the editorship of William Clements.. Joining Williams on the editorial staff of “Arkansas Review” are Norman Stafford as managing editor, Kim Vickrey as art editor, and Richard Burns as website editor. Clements will serve as production editor. An interdisciplinary committee consisting of Brady Banta (history), Janelle Collins (literature), Jason Combs (geography), Mary Donaghy (sociology), Gregory Hansen (folklore), Cherisse Jones (history), and Richard Wang (political science) will advise the editorial staff. Graduate students in the Department of English and Philosophy will also assist with the publication. Subscriptions to “Arkansas Review” are $20 per year. Single issues are $7.50.
