Student exhibition
featured in Currently on exhibit at the Arkansas State University Museum is a student exhibition of artifacts from the museum’s collection. This was a class project for the “Introduction to Museum Work” offered for the spring semester. The exhibition in the lobby gallery continues through June 6. Introduction to Museum Work teaches students all aspects of working in a museum. The class is team taught by museum staff. It covers museum administration, collections, education and exhibits. Each student in the Introduction to Museum Work class chose an object or objects they wanted to see on exhibit. In preparation of exhibit of the objects, they had to write a condition report for the objects; research donor information; and clean, conserve and research the object use and manufacture. They also created any special mounts needed to exhibit their object’s and write the label copy. Objects chosen for exhibition were: Model-T tools Three early 20th century dresses 1840s century spinning wheel 1910s coat, hat, boots and Gladstone Fraternal swords Obstetrical-gynecological examining and surgery chair Photo-engraver copy camera The ASU Museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The public is welcome. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $2 per visitor. For more details, call the Museum at (870) 972-2074. - ### - . |
