ASU awards 961 diplomas
at Spring Commencement Ceremony
Arkansas State University in Jonesboro awarded 961 diplomas on Friday, May
7, during the Spring Commencement Ceremony in the Convocation Center. Dr.
Les Wyatt, president of ASU, presented the various diplomas. Included in
the total were five doctoral, 11 specialist’s, 111 master's, 766
bachelor's and 68 associate's degrees. The class included 819 graduates
from Arkansas, 49 graduates from Missouri, 67 from other states, and 26
from other countries.
During the ceremony, 177 seniors were recognized for outstanding academic
achievement. Seventeen students received special recognition for their
achievements in the Honors Program. Ten graduated in University Honors
(UH) for having completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of Honors
courses and a thesis in the major area. Seven graduated In Honors (H)
for having completed a minimum of 18 credit hours of Honors courses.
Twelve students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 grade point
average while 72 students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a grade
point average from 3.80 to 3.99, and 90 students graduated Cum Laude
with a grade point from 3.60 to 3.79.

Engineering (BEN), Fine Arts (BFA), General Studies (BGS), Music (BM),
Music Education (BME), Science (BS), Science in Agriculture (BSA), Science
in Education (BSE), Science in Nursing (BSN), Science in Radiologic
