December issue of
"Arkansas Dec.
14, 2004--The Department of English and
Philosophy at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro announces the
publication of the December issue of “Arkansas Review: A Journal of
Delta Studies.” Edited
by a committee of faculty and graduate assistants, the magazine offers an
interdisciplinary approach to the seven-state Mississippi River Delta
region through academic articles, interviews, fiction, poetry, creative
nonfiction, visual art, and book reviews. This
is the third and final issue of Volume 35 and features a stunning cover
and art page section, provided by ASU art professor Roger Carlisle.
Fiction and poetry appears by such notables as James Nolan, Greg Fraser
and Darlin’ Neal. Also appearing is the first in a series of interviews
with regional booksellers, the first bookseller being Corey Mesler, owner
of Burke’s Books in Memphis. Members
of the ASU community who have contributed to this issue of the journal
include Michael B. Spikes, and book reviewers Cherisse Jones and ASU
alumna Angela Williams. Copies
are available for purchase at Hastings, Books, Music and More in Jonesboro
and at That Bookstore in Blytheville. The
cost for the December issue is $7.50. A year’s subscription (three
issues) is $20. Make checks payable to “ASU Foundation” with
