Eleven physical therapy students from the College of Nursing and Health
Professions at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro were selected to
attend the 9th Biennial Symposium on Minorities, The
Medically Underserved & Cancer in Washington, D.C. recently.
The students were: Aaron Howard of Conway, Aaron Thomas and Terrance

As part of the program, the students met with U.S. Senator Blanche

Delta region.
More than 300 students from across the United States participated,
representing some 46 schools. Altogether, there were 1300 participants

academics to discuss with students the disparities of cancer among
minorities and the underserved. Mandatory workshops for student
participants were geared in the areas of basic research, behavioral and
social sciences research and clinical research.
Students also participated in resume writing and interview techniques as
well as applying to graduate school.
