to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day "Wake up and remember the dream," is the theme chosen for the 2003 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Arkansas State University. The Student Activities Board is sponsoring five days of activities along with other student groups on campus, beginning with a breakfast Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 a.m. in the Reng Center Ballroom. A birthday celebration will be hosted by the Black Student Association at 11 that morning, also in the ballroom. Birthday cake will be served. The annual Miss Black and Gold Pageant will be hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha that evening at 7 at Fowler Center. Diversity workshops with Christopher J. Harris will be at 3 p.m. in the Reng Center Thursday, Jan. 16. Harris, the Alpha Phi Alpha Man of the Year, will speak again at 6 p.m. in the Reng Center Ballroom. A reception sponsored by the Student Government Association will follow. In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, classes will not be in session Monday, Jan. 20, but the day has been designated as a day of service. Students will volunteer their services to Abilities Unlimited. The 29th annual Unity March sponsored by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., will be Tuesday, Jan. 21. The march will begin at 4 p.m. in front of Arkansas Hall, located on Aggie Road. A candlelight vigil sponsored by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will follow in the Reng Center Ballroom.
