Phil Hestand recognized by colleagues for excellent work Dr. Phil Hestand, director of the Counseling Center at Arkansas State University, recently was presented the Rosenthal Award from the U. S. Marine Corps. To receive the award, the recipient must have worked to train counselors and further the profession of counseling without the expectation of personal recognition. Selection is made by the Arkansas Counselor Educators and Supervisors, Hestand began his employment with ASU in 1999 as the learning disability specialist for the Office of Disability Services. He became director of the Counseling Center in June of 2000. He is the current president-elect of the Arkansas Counselor Educators and Supervisors, and is a licensed professional counselor, counselor supervisor and psychologist. Hestand and his wife Michaele have two daughters, Andrea and Jessica. # # # |
